"They can still challenge" - Jamie Carragher on Liverpool's title hopes

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that the Reds could challenge for the 2022-23 Premier League title.

Liverpool have had a really slow start to the top-flight season. The Reds have only accumulated nine points from a possible 18.

Despite that being the case, Carragher is confident that Jurgen Klopp's team could still compete for the title.

“They can still challenge for the Premier League, no doubt,” he told Sportsmail.

“But in terms of turning a corner it needs more than one game. There have been five or six games where Liverpool have been nowhere near their best.

“(Against Ajax) there was a typical Jurgen Klopp Liverpool performance, but I think they will need more than one game.

“You need to see the next four or five games to see if Liverpool are back on track. But it was nice to see Liverpool back to their best.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We aren't as confident as Carragher. A lot will have to go right for Liverpool if they are to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Reds can't really afford to drop too many more points. When everything is going well, Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world.

There is a reason why the Reds competed for the quadruple last season.

So, they are capable of putting together a very good run. But, as we have said, Liverpool will have to improve dramatically if they are to win the title.
