"There was a lot of pressure on us players" - Harvey Elliott on Bournemouth clash

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has given his thoughts on the club's 9-0 victory over Bournemouth.

The Reds welcomed the Cherries to Anfield on Saturday. Heading into the Premier League fixture, Liverpool had only accumulated two points from their opening three games of the season.

So, the pressure was on Jurgen Klopp's team to get a result against Bournemouth, which Elliott acknowledged post-game.

"I think there was a lot of pressure on us players to go out and put on a performance today," he told the club's official website.

"We certainly did that, so it's a massive relief. To score five in the first half, it was a dream start for us. The boys played unbelievably throughout the game.

"And big congratulations to the young lads as well who have deserved their chance and deserved to be playing – they're the ones that keep us going throughout training.

"It's massive relief for us and we're just so excited for Wednesday (against Newcastle United at Anfield)."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Elliott's take. It was such a relief to see Liverpool secure the three points.

The Reds have started the season so slowly. With that being the case, Jurgen Klopp's team had to beat Bournemouth to kickstart their campaign.

On another note, Elliott played extremely well against the Cherries. The 19-year-old found the back of the net and registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.61.

Elliott was lively with and without the ball. The youngster is going to be a serious player in the years to come.
