"Then Liverpool sign him" - Former Red Devil wanted the club to sign Luis Diaz

Former Manchester United man Quinton Fortune wanted to see the Red Devils sign Luis Diaz before the winger joined Liverpool.

The Reds secured the Colombia international's services back in January. The club spent £40.50 million to sign Diaz from Porto.

Since then, the 25-year-old has scored four goals and registered three assists in 20 appearances for Liverpool.

With that being the case, Fortune believes that Manchester United missed a beat by not signing Diaz.

“As much as we don’t want to say it, Liverpool: every time they sign a player, you are thinking, ‘Wow, they look like they have done their homework’,” the South African told The Athletic, as quoted by TEAMtalk.

“Take Luis Diaz. I had been watching him for the last few months and years, thinking, ‘Oh my goodness, this is the player United need to sign’.

“Then Liverpool sign him and you are just thinking, ‘Nooo! How are we missing these players? Come on! Help me out here’.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

There is no denying that Diaz has been exceptional since joining Liverpool. Therefore, we are delighted that the club secured his services back in January.

Jurgen Klopp and his team have nailed nearly every signing they have made. So, when the German brings in a player, we are confident that the squad has been improved.

It will be interesting to see what type of player the German targets in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Liverpool already possess a brilliant squad. There is a reason why the Reds could potentially win the quadruple this season.

But, we are a strong believer that you can never have too many good players at your disposal.

Only time will tell if the Reds are to make any big signings.
