"The standard is so high" - Alisson on not winning the Premier League

Alisson has revealed that Liverpool are frustrated about not winning the Premier League title, but still proud of what they've achieved.

Speaking after Liverpool beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at Anfield yesterday, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the goalkeeper opened up on losing the league title to Manchester City by one-point.

"We couldn’t be too aware of things that were happening in their (Manchester City's) game (against Aston Villa at the Etihad). We were really focused on our match," Alisson told Sky Sports. "We heard the fans shouting and celebrating a few times, so we knew something had happened. We were really focused on doing our job.

"We got the win and the points, but it wasn’t enough. We’re frustrated because we worked really hard to get the title, but we have to be really proud. Congratulations to Manchester City."

Alisson also spoke about how high the standards are in the Premier League.

"With 92 points you’d be champions in pretty much all the leagues in the world, but here you aren’t. Sometimes you have to do more. We’re not going to be negative and look at games where we dropped points.

"Every game in the Premier League is a fight, the standard is so high."

It's a season that has offered so much. We were on the cusp of becoming the greatest ever English side but unfortunately, we fell at the final hurdle.

The fact that we're even competing with Manchester City, who are ran by one of the richest countries in the world, is a testament to what Jurgen Klopp is doing at Liverpool.

We have proven before that we will come back stronger after failing to win the league and with new reinforcements set to be added to the squad this summer, I believe Klopp will bring the title back to Anfield next season.
