Former Premier League footballer turned journalist and media personality Jan Aage Fjørtoft has confirmed that Liverpool have made an offer to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The England international has been the Reds' primary transfer target for well over two years now and is likely to leave the Bundesliga side this summer as several teams across the continent look to snap him up. However, Jan Aage Fjortoft believes Liverpool have made an official offer for the Englishman, as he provided an intriguing transfer update on his Twitter account.

"Re: Jude Bellingham. Just to confirm the report earlier today. Liverpool have sent an offer to Dortmund! The roulette is open."

Earlier today, several reports emerged that Bellingham has chosen his next club amid reported transfer interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City. Fjortoft's claims have seemingly added fuel to the fire, as it now looks like we're heading to the end of this particular transfer saga.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Jude Bellingham is one of the most exciting midfielders in world football and could be an unreal addition to Liverpool's options in the center of the park. The Reds might need to shatter the Premier League record to snap him up, but players like this don't come by too often, so they would be best advised to pay whatever it takes to snap up the 19-year-old.

If Liverpool have indeed made an early move for the former Birmingham City midfielder, it could be a sign of things to come as they prepare for a crucial summer transfer window. Bellingham is likely to be the most expensive signing if he arrives, but the Reds need to add at least one more midfielder if they are to compete on all fronts next season.

The likes of Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister and young English midfielder Alex Scott have all been linked with the club recently, but which one of these players will join the club this summer? Only time will tell.
