The records Mohamed Salah can achieve if he scores against Everton

Another weekend is upon us and that can only mean more milestones in sight for Mohamed Salah.

All the "maybe Liverpool should just sell him, actually..." chat from the summer has been made to look very silly by the Egyptian's searing hot start to the 2023/24 season.

The Reds' record Premier League goalscorer has five goals and four assists in eight Premier League outings – no player has more goal involvements in England's top flight so far – and he has continued to prove himself as the main man in Liverpool's attack, whether as a finisher or creator.

With Darwin Nuñez and Luis Diaz back late from international duty in South America and Cody Gakpo a fitness doubt, Salah will be particularly key to Liverpool's hopes in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

So far this season, the records have fallen like dominoes for Liverpool's number 11 and there are more in sight this weekend.

200 club & Merseyside derby top scorers list

Should he get himself on the scoresheet, Salah will hit the impressive marker of 200 career league goals (142 of his 199 have been for Liverpool).

Slightly more niche, the winger's flying start to the season means he could also become the first Liverpool player to score at Anfield in each of the opening four games of a league season since Peter Beardsley way back in 1990/91.

Liverpool's Egyptian King has history against Everton, with five strikes in this fixture in nine appearances.

One more goal will put him joint-second, alongside Divock Origi and Robbie Fowler, for Liverpool's top scorer in Merseyside derbies of the Premier League era. He would, however, require a four-goal haul to go level with Steven Gerrard (nine) at the top of the list.

If he does find the net against Everton, Salah will take his Anfield goals total 104 for Liverpool – putting him joint-sixth (alongside greats Sir Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard) on the club’s all-time home scorers list.

Salah is not the only one with records in sight this weekend. Jurgen Klopp could surpass Rafa Benitez's total of eight Premier League Merseyside derby wins with a victory on Saturday.

History is on the current boss' side.

In 17 meetings, Klopp has only suffered defeat against the Toffees once – while his record against Sean Dyche reads: won nine, drawn two, lost two.
