The player Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in signing come January
Liverpool could make a move for Porto winger Luis Diaz in January, according to Jornal de Notícias, as cited by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account.
The Reds are set to lose forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations when the New Year arrives.
With that being the case, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp would reportedly like to sign Diaz to cover the aforementioned players. However, Porto are unlikely to sell the 24-year-old in January.
Diaz's contract expires in June 2024. The Colombia international possesses a current market value of €25 million.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We would love to see Liverpool sign Diaz. The winger has scored 36 goals and registered 15 assists in 113 appearances for Porto.
Diaz has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.61 for Porto this season. The aforementioned figures highlight that the 24-year-old possesses quality.
With Liverpool set to lose Mane and Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations for the early stages of 2022, it would make sense for the club to bring in an attacking player come January.
Hopefully the Reds, Porto and Diaz can reach some sort of agreement. Only time will tell if Liverpool are genuinely interested in the winger.
