Former professional footballer Rafael van der Vaart has given his thoughts on tonight's Champions League group stage clash between Liverpool and Ajax at Anfield.

The match will kick-off at 8:00pm UK time. Van Der Vaart believes that Ajax have no chance of winning the game if wingers Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah perform for Liverpool.

"The only thing I’m afraid of at Ajax is: if Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah do have their day, then we (supporter) have a problem,” he said, as quoted by Voetbal International.

“Then Ajax will never win. Certainly not at Anfield, I don’t think Daley Blind and Devyne Rensch are good enough for that."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Diaz and Salah are terrific footballers. There is a reason why they consistently start for Liverpool.

Diaz has scored 10 goals and registered five assists in 34 appearances for the club's first-team.

Salah on the other hand has found the back of the net 159 times and secured 66 assists in 262 appearances for Liverpool's senior side.

The aforementioned figures highlight that both Diaz and Salah have the ability to decide a game on any given day.

So, we are hoping that the wingers are at their absolute best tonight. If they are, we don't see Ajax getting anywhere near Liverpool.

But, if the Reds are slightly off, the Dutch side could cause them a few issues. Ajax won their opening group stage game 4-0 against Rangers at the Amsterdam Arena.
