Former Liverpool player Pedro Chirivella has given his honest opinion on Anfield legend Steven Gerrard.

The Spaniard represented the Reds between 2013-20. Therefore, Chirivella trained and played alongside Gerrard for two years.

The 25-year-old revealed that the Scouser is the only player he has worked with that has left him in awe.

“The only player in my life that I was really like ‘wow I’m training with him and playing next to him’ was Steven (Gerrard)," Chirivella said on the Blood Red podcast, as quoted by Empire of the Kop.

“For everything he accomplished in Liverpool, for who he is in Liverpool, for me it was a big day.

“I’ve never seen a right foot like his, the way he shoots, the passes he made, how he runs at that age (backend of his career) he was still a machine physically.

“I remember he was one of the players who when I went home and spoke with my parents I said ‘he’s on a top, top level.’”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Gerrard was a superb footballer for Liverpool. The midfielder scored 185 goals and registered 153 assists in 709 appearances for the club's first-team.

Gerrard also won nine major trophies with the Reds. It was a sad day when the 42-year-old left the club back in 2015.

Gerrard was a generational talent. The Scouser went into management once his playing career finished up.

Gerrard was at the helm when Rangers secured the 2020-21 Scottish Premiership title. He is now the manager of Aston Villa.

Who knows, perhaps Gerrard will manage Liverpool one day. It would be brilliant to see him take the reigns at Anfield.

Gerrard has been a fan of the club his entire life, so he knows about the pressure that comes with the job.

Therefore, we are confident that the ex-midfielder would be able to deal with the external noise.
