"The negotiations are taking too long" - Pundit on reported contracts talks regarding Red
Pundit Kevin Campbell has weighed in on Mohamed Salah's contract situation.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed back in August that the winger was in talks with the club regarding a new deal.
However, both parties are yet to reach an agreement. Campbell believes that the Reds are taking too long to agree new terms with Salah.
The former Premier League striker also implied that Liverpool could lose the winger if they can't get him to extend his contract soon.
Campbell told Football Insider the following: “The negotiations are taking too long at Liverpool. They are giving other teams an opportunity to zero in on him. They are opening the door. That needs to be sorted out as soon as possible."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Salah is a world-class footballer. The Reds signed the winger from Roma for a transfer fee of €42 million back in July 2017.
Salah has won the Premier League Golden Boot twice during his time at Anfield.
The 29-year-old is also showing no signs of slowing down. Salah has scored 16 goals and registered nine assists in 20 top-flight fixtures this season.
Therefore, we don't want to see the club lose the Egyptian international anytime soon.
But, we do agree with Campbell. The longer the contract talks take, the more likely it is that Salah could leave the club.
