"The most annoying" - Former Man United defender on current Liverpool player
Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has recently been talking about Liverpool midfielder James Milner.
The 40-year-old named the Englishman as the most annoying opponent that he faced throughout his career.
Evra was implying that Milner's work rate made him tough to play against.
As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Evra told MUFC the following: “The toughest one [opponent]? It’s not the toughest one but the most annoying one was James Milner. “People always expect me to say another one but James Milner the reason was because he was always defending more than myself. I’m someone, I’m an attacking defender so he frustrated me so much because he was following me everywhere. “Even if I was going in the toilet, he was going to follow me. I would say the most annoying is James Milner.”ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Liverpool signed Milner from Manchester City on a free transfer back in the summer of 2015.
The midfielder has been a superb player for the Reds over the years. Milner has scored 26 goals and registered 43 assists in 258 appearances for the club.
The 35-year-old has also won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title with Liverpool.
In terms of Evra's comments, we can completely understand where he is coming from. Milner does not give an opposition player a moment to settle on the ball.
The Englishman is an incredible athlete. It will be interesting to see if Milner plays on next season.
The midfielder's deal expires in the summer of 2022.
