Liverpool secured a 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday.

Kevin De Bruyne gave the Citizens the lead after five minutes of play. However, Diogo Jota equalised for the Reds shortly after.

But, Manchester City took the lead again through Gabriel Jesus just before half-time. After the break, Sadio Mane scored immediately to ensure that Liverpool left Manchester with a point.

Below are the key talking points from the Premier League fixture.

We just watched two elite teams

We will touch on the Premier League title race a bit later. But, firstly, we wanted to address that we have just watched two elite football sides go head-to-head for 90 minutes.

Liverpool and Manchester City possess plenty of world-class footballers, which is why they have been the English sides to beat in the past four years.

Sometimes you do just have to sit back and admire the two teams. They are brilliant to watch because of their attacking nature.

Neither Liverpool or Manchester City could be split in the Premier League this season. Both fixtures finished in 2-2 draws.

Slow first-half killed Liverpool's chances of winning

Liverpool looked well off the pace in the first-half against Manchester City and the scoreline reflected that heading into the break.

But, as all good sides do, they responded. The Reds looked far more assured with the ball at their feet throughout the second-half.

Liverpool even looked more comfortable in defence, which is why they did not concede in the final 45 minutes of play.

On another note, you do have to admire De Bruyne. He was very lively in the first-half and almost impossible to live with.

Jota and Mane offer something even when not at their best

Jota and Mane were reasonably quiet against Manchester City.

However, as we have already pointed out, they both found the back of the net yesterday. Who knows how important those goals will prove to be come the end of the season.

League leaders Manchester City possess a one-point lead over Liverpool on the table. The Reds and the Citizens have seven top-flight games left to play.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is adamant that his side will have to win all their games if they are to claim the title.

"Yeah, I think that’s probably right," the German said in his post-match press conference when asked if his team had to be flawless between now and the end of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign, as quoted by the club's official website.

"How I said, nothing changed for us. We knew it in January; we knew in January if we wanted to win it we have to win 18 games and if there is one we can draw it was today. We drew and now let’s see.

"We have now two massive games for us: we have Benfica on Wednesday and City again Saturday (FA Cup) and then after that it really starts, we have to be ready for our derbies.

"Yeah, but it’s actually cool, it’s good, we are where we want to be, we are close to an incredible side."

Only time will tell which team will claim the title. However, as of right now, Manchester City are the favourites simply because they are in control of their destiny.

Onto Benfica

We strongly believe Liverpool have a greater chance of winning the Champions League in comparison to the Premier League.

That is simply because the European Cup is in the Reds' hands. Klopp's side will take a 3-1 lead into the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Benfica, which is taking place at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Manchester City game was taxing, but we don't expect Klopp to make too many changes for the clash against the Portuguese side.

The Champions League is a very important competition after all.
