"The biggest" - Former Everton man says Old Firm is bigger than Merseryside derby

Former Everton man Jonjoe Kenny has given his verdict on the Merseyside derby.

The 25-year-old has also represented Celtic, which means that he has seen the Old Firm derby up close.

Kenny was recently asked which derby is the biggest. He gave a pretty straightforward answer.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Kenny told Morgen Post the following: “The biggest (derby) is the Glasgow derby, but unfortunately there were no fans there (Kenny played for Celtic in 2021 during the year when football was played mainly behind closed doors due to COVID-19).

“Playing with Everton against Liverpool was particularly emotional. Ever since I was a little boy, I’ve kind of hated Liverpool. It was always my dream to play against them, and luckily I did.

“(I know) what a derby win means to the Hertha fans. Those are games you look forward to, where you fight to win at all costs.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Everyone is entitled to their opinion at the end of the day. All we will say is that both fixtures are brilliant.

Liverpool gave Everton a touch up in the Premier League last season. The Reds defeated Everton 4-1 at Goodison Park and 2-0 at Anfield.

The Toffees were almost relegated last campaign. They finished in 16th-place in the Premier League table (four points clear of the relegation zone).

Therefore, the Merseyside derby would have been put on hold for a season had Everton been relegated.

The first fixture between Everton and Liverpool next campaign will take place on the 3rd of September at Goodison Park.

Hopefully the Reds can continue their good form against the Toffees. Only time will tell if that is to be the case.
