Unfortunately, our favourites in red did not win the Champions League final earlier this year. However, they got all the way to the finale – and we are not giving up. We are now going to take a look at Liverpool’s future and the changes coming this summer. We are going to take a look at some of the players that might leave the club. We have also conducted an interview with former Red Danny Murphy about Liverpool’s future. Come on, let’s have a look!

Has Sadio Mane decided to leave?

Sadio Mane is ready to leave his boys in red. The winger is on the verge of announcing a transfer to Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old wants a new challenge after six seasons at Anfield. It has been reported that Bayern Munich have agreed a fee of €41 million with the Reds for the Senegal international's services.  The “low” amount is due to the fact that Mane only has one year left on his contract with Liverpool.  He planned to win the 2022 Champions League final against Real Madrid before saying goodbye to Anfield and continuing his career at Bayern Munich. The plan did not work out, as the Reds lost 1-0 to the Spanish giants in Paris.

And what about Takumi Minamino?

You did read that accurately. Minamino implied that he was considering leaving the team even before the Champions League final. Liverpool acquired the Japanese player from RB Salzburg for a transfer fee of £7.25 million back in 2019. He had trouble adjusting to Anfield at first and was loaned out to Southampton the previous year. Minamino was Liverpool's leading goalscorer in both national cup competitions last season. The Reds won both tournaments. In other words, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has a long list of attackers at his disposal, and the Japanese international is very far down the list. Although the summer has officially started, Minamino has not yet made a statement letting the supporters know of his final decision. He is playing football in Japan this summer, but hopefully, we will know more about his future soon.

What does Danny Murphy have to say about it all?

Although Murphy predicted Liverpool as the winner of this year’s Champions League, he is still positive when looking back at the 2021-22 campaign. One of the reasons he is positive is due to Klopp’s extended contract. He states that stability will forever be a good factor for a football team and that it is great to see a manager who believes in the side the way that Klopp does.  As we have been talking about players leaving the club, we, of course, have to look at whom Murphy thinks will join the team this summer. He states that “It’s 100% Declan Rice for me”. Murphy mentioned that it would be beneficial for the team to have a player who is going to play for the club for the next ten years, and Rice, 23, fits the aforementioned criteria. Furthermore, Murphy believes that Rice can be a good fit with Fabio Carvalho and that they will push each other to a greater level. It will be interesting to see if Danny M is right or not after the summer.
