"That's the crux of it" - Pundit on why Liverpool are struggling

Pundit Paul Robinson has given his theory as to why Liverpool have had a slow start to the 2022-23 campaign.

The Reds challenged for the quadruple last season. But, Liverpool have been well off the pace so far this campaign.

Robinson has given his reasons as to why that is the case.

“You look at last season and they played every single game possible,” the former England No.1 told BBC Sport.

“They have lost Sadio Mane, who is a huge miss for them, but you don’t become bad players overnight.

“They’ve got too many top-quality players who are underperforming – and that’s the crux of it.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Robinson is spot on. Everyone in the team is underperforming. The players appear to be lacking confidence. Also, the players look very lethargic out on the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp has a massive job on his hands. It is going to be very difficult to turn things around. But, if anyone can, it's Klopp.

We wish the team all the best for the remainder of the campaign. In the short-term, Liverpool's next task is to defeat Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday night.

That will not be an easy task. Only time will tell if the Reds are to win the Champions League group stage fixture.
