Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate made his second Premier League start against Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.

The 22-year-old performed well against the Red Devils. Konate registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.33 against Manchester United.

With that being the case, pundit Alan Hutton has praised the Frenchman for his performance at Old Trafford. Liverpool defeated Manchester United 5-0.

Hutton told Football Insider the following: "He’s a brilliant defender, he really is.

"I thought it was a great move, bringing him into the club. He’s so young, he’s only going to get better. Probably a player that Jurgen Klopp knows a lot about.

"For someone so young, playing alongside Virgil van Dijk is only going to help you. You’re only going to become a better player in time.

"That was a big test for him. You’re playing at Old Trafford against a team that have got a lot of attacking talent.

"I thought he was outstanding."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We completely agree with Hutton. As we have pointed out, Konate was impressive against Manchester United last weekend.

Liverpool were playing against their biggest rival away from home, but the Frenchman was composed right throughout the match.

Konate still has plenty of room left for improvement due to his age, which is exciting. We look forward to watching Konate develop in the years to come.

The youngster is currently behind both Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip in the pecking order.

Despite that being the case, hopefully we see Konate get a few more opportunities this season.
