After joining AS Monaco, Takumi Minamino has sent a farewell message to the Liverpool supporters.

On Tuesday, Minamino completed his move to the Ligue 1 side after weeks of speculation around his future.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Reds will receive €15m + €3m in potential add-ons for the Japan international, basically doubling their original £7.25m fee they paid for him back in 2020.

Once his move was confirmed, Minamino sent a goodbye message to Liverpool fans on his Instagram, thanking them for the support he received whilst on Merseyside.

"Dear LFC supporters, I was so happy when I joined the LFC family two and a half years ago but my time has come to an end," he said.

"I had a fantastic time and I will never forget the massive support I received from you all at Anfield.

"I wish you all the best. Sayonara, goodbye. YNWA. Taki."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Even though Minamino didn't make the splash he was hoping to when he first joined Liverpool, he was still a vital part of our team for over two years.

Without the Japan international, we probably wouldn't have won the FA Cup and EFL Cup last season (scored seven goals across both competitions). For that, he will always be in Liverpool's history books.

Monaco is going to be the perfect club for Minamino. Ligue 1 is less physical than the Premier League and he will be a star player for his new side.

With that in mind, I can see Minamino having a very successful career with Monaco. The French side clearly marked him as their main target this summer and with that trust in him, there is no doubt in my mind he will be a great player for them.

I for one will definitely be keeping a close eye on Minamino next season and I'm sure a lot of other Liverpool fans will be rooting for the Japan international at his new club.
