Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino will leave Anfield this summer.

According to the BBC Sport's Mandeep Sanghera, the Japan international will be a Monaco player next season.

The reporter wrote the following: ‘Liverpool have agreed to sell Japan international Takumi Minamino to Monaco for 18 million euros (£15.5 million).

‘The Ligue 1 side were one of a number of clubs interested in the 27-year-old.

‘The deal for Minamino is worth a fixed 15 million euros (£12.9 million) and 3 million euros (£2.6 million) in add-ons.'

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Minamino from RB Salzburg for a transfer fee of £7.65 million back in January 2020.

However, the forward was not given very much opportunity at Anfield. Minamino only made 53 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The reality is, he has been behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane. So, we are not surprised that Minamino is on the verge of joining another club.

He leaves Liverpool having scored 14 goals. Minamino also won the Premier League title, FA Cup and League Cup with the Reds.

Going by Jurgen Klopp's comments back in March, he will miss the Japan international.

As quoted by Liverpool Offside, the Reds boss said the following: “He shows everything, he has everything. That’s how it is, that’s why he is our player. Taki came in, in a difficult time, coronavirus was there full throttle, no supporters in the stadium, in a good football team obviously which was used to a lot of things.

“Had good moments, played really good football but now he needed time and in the moment he looks absolutely on the peak of things he can do. I’m very, very happy for him that he can show that.

“Obviously there are more difficult situations than Taki’s out there in the world but it’s obviously not so easy to be in and out and sometimes these kind of things. But his character is obviously top-class, which means when he is needed or when I give him the opportunity, he is delivering on a top-class level. I’m really happy.”

We wish Minamino all the best with his move to Monaco.
