"Strikes fear into everybody else" - Pundit on Liverpool's current squad depth

Former Premier League footballer Noel Whelan has said that there aren't many areas for Liverpool to improve after the signings they've completed this summer transfer window.

The Reds have acted fast this transfer window. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has already signed three players (Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsay and Fabio Carvalho).

In a recent interview, Whelan praised the club's arrivals, saying that the Reds have a backup in most areas.

“I would say they have (superb depth). I don’t think there’s many areas that I would look at now that needs strengthening. They’ve got backup in plenty of areas, people who can play as centre-half and they’ve got plenty of options with experience in that midfield," he told Football Insider.

“Now, when you look at the front line, it strikes fear into everybody else, just like the Man City side."

Anfield Watch Verdict

The signing of Nunez is going to do wonders for us next season. I honestly think he will have a similar impact to Erling Haaland (joined Manchester City this summer).

We finally have a backup for Trent Alexander-Arnold in Calvin Ramsay. He is a player we have needed for the last three years.

Finally, the addition of Carvalho, one of the highest-rated youngsters in the world, will give us that youthful exuberance we like to have in our squad.

I will say if we don't sign a midfielder this summer then I think it'll be a mistake. It was the one position we needed to sign going into this window and we haven't done that.

However, I trust Klopp and if he doesn't think we need a midfielder, then I'll back his decision.
