Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has talked about Steven Gerrard's role in the Premier League title race.

Gerrard's Aston Villa will face league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium to conclude the season. The Reds, who are one-point behind the Citizens, will face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield to wrap up their domestic campaign.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's game against Wolves, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp said that he hasn't called Gerrard ahead of the final fixture of the season.

"If I would play a game that could help Dortmund and Mainz, that would be a motivation but I don't play, and Stevie doesn't play. We are all human beings," Klopp said.

"Stevie will take it 100% serious without my call. I'm sure the rest of the club have called him, but I have not."

Anfield Watch Verdict

The last time Aston Villa beat Manchester City in any competition was nine years ago.

Since then, Manchester City have drastically improved and Aston Villa have been relegated to the Championship and then promoted again.

It's going to be a massive ask for Gerrard's side but as Manchester City know, the Premier League is the most unpredictable division of football in the world.

Citizens boss Pep Guardiola won't let his side drop points without a major fight, so if Gerrard does bring the pressure on Sunday, then his team are going to have to sustain it for the whole 90 minutes.

Saying that, Aston Villa don't have anything to play for, as they're safe from relegation and miles off the European places.

If anyone can pull off the miracle that Liverpool need though, it's going to be one of our biggest ever legends, Stevie G.

Speaking about taking points off Manchester City to help Liverpool, Gerrard said that he's going to give it everything he's got to get his side the three points.

Hopefully there's one more twist in this crazy title race!
