What Steven Gerrard told Trent Alexander-Arnold after Liverpool win over Man United
Trent Alexander-Arnold was a sent a message by Steven Gerrard after Liverpool's victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Things could not have gone better for Liverpool against their fiercest rivals on Sunday afternoon.
Arne Slot's side absolutely demolished a tepid United team and a quick flurry of three goals saw the Reds gain an insurmountable lead.
But it could have been even more had it not been for the intervention of VAR.
Just a few minutes into the game, Trent Alexander-Arnold thought he had opened the scoring for the Reds after putting the ball into the back of the net.
The Liverpool right-back even went off to celebrate and recreated Gerrard's iconic celebration at Old Trafford by kissing the camera.

However, in the end, the goal was ruled out by VAR with Mohamed Salah being judged to have touched the ball from an offside position in order to set-up Alexander-Arnold for the goal.
Alexander-Arnold will be disappointed by that verdict but he will be pleased with the final result. He will be even more pleased to see the club's former captain sending him a positive message on social media.
Immediately, after the game, Gerrard took to Instagram to send a message to Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool legend commented a kissing heart emoji on Alexander-Arnold's post about the game and then also shared the 25-year-old's post on his story accompanied by a set of hearts.
Clearly, Gerrard is feeling the love for Alexander-Arnold who will be pleased to have received recognition from a player who he will have looked up to as he grew up.
Gerrard's message is also a reminder to Alexander-Arnold about his status as Liverpool's local hero. Having entered the last year of his contract, Alexander-Arnold has a decision to make whether to stay and follow Gerrard's path at Anfield or move to pastures new.
