Steven Gerrard on what Liverpool should do in the summer transfer window

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has given his opinion on what the Reds should do in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Reds are coming off a very good season. Liverpool won the League Cup and FA Cup.

Jurgen Klopp's side also finished runners-up in the Premier League and Champions League.

Despite the fact that Liverpool are quite a complete side, Gerrard believes that the German could improve his squad in the summer transfer window.

As quoted by the Daily Mail and Anfield Watch on Twitter, he said: “For Liverpool, if you think about the next five, six, seven years, they’re going to need a midfielder, an eight, who can get goals, who can get double figures.

“Jordan Henderson and James Milner are not getting any younger. They’re still top players at this level, of course, and they’ll want to go on and do more.

“They are heavily reliant on the front three — or the front five if you include Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino. You always need one of those midfielders that’s going to get in the box and get you goals.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Gerrard. As he pointed out, Liverpool do have an ageing midfield.

Therefore, we would like to see the Reds sign a midfielder for the future.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham. As far as we are concerned, the 18-year-old would be a fine addition to Klopp's squad.

Bellingham scored six goals and registered 14 assists in 44 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season.

The aforementioned figures highlight that the Englishman would add end product to Klopp's midfield. Bellingham could also represent Liverpool for a number of years.

But, only time will tell if the youngster and the Reds are to cross paths.
