Steve Nicol backs Andy Robertson to show Calvin Ramsay the way at Anfield
Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol believes that Andy Robertson will be a good role model for one of the club's newest arrivals - Calvin Ramsay.
The Reds signed the Scottish full-back from Aberdeen for a transfer fee of £4.40 million earlier this month.
Nicol is under the impression that Robertson, who is also a Scottish full-back, will show Ramsay the way.
“When I look at this Liverpool squad now, they look really together, too. No doubt Robbo will be the first one that will look after Ramsay, so I expect it just to be the same,” he told the Daily Mail, as quoted by The Kop Times and The Empire of the Kop.
“Robbo is a good guy as well, so I don’t think there’s any danger. As I said, he’ll look after Calvin.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We completely agree with Nicol's take. Robertson will be keen to get around a fellow Scotsman and full-back.
Robertson is a superb player. Not only is the 28-year-old a brilliant defender, he is also superb going forward.
Robertson has scored eight goals and registered 52 assists in 223 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
Therefore, Ramsay will learn plenty from his new teammate. We look forward to seeing how he settles into life at Anfield.
Ramsay is quite an experienced player for an 18-year-old. He made 39 appearances for Aberdeen's first-team.
Despite the fact that Trent Alexander-Arnold is ahead of Ramsay in the pecking order at Liverpool, he should get plenty of minutes next season.
Liverpool play in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. Squad rotation is necessary.
We wish Ramsay all the best ahead of his debut campaign at Anfield.
