The club has brought in a master of his craft in Alex Inglethorpe, who has been the brains behind some of the best academy talent coming through the ranks at Anfield.

This includes the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones and Coaimhin Kelleher. But they are just the beginning of an exciting new bunch, with even more players set to breakthrough into the first team under Arne Slot.

One of those exciting players is a Spanish youth international who has made a significant step in his development at Anfield, lining up with Slot's first team squad.

Wellity Lucky called up to Liverpool's first team

Ahead of Liverpool's trip to PSV in the Champions League, which is an 8pm GMT kick-off and will be broadcasted live on TNT Sports 3 and you can sign up here to watch the game, Lucky was spotted in first team training.

The 19-year-old defender has only recently celebrated his birthday earlier this month and he has been playing regular minutes in the Reds' U21 and U19 team in the UEFA Youth League.

Now though it seems as though he could be involved in the game against PSV having been given the opportunity to train with the first team.

A highly rated defender, Lucky was born in Zaragoza and has recently opted to represent Spain at youth level after playing for England at U15 and U16 level.

Now though he is a Spanish U17 youth international, joining the likes of Stefan Bajcetic and Suso as academy players who represented Spain at Liverpool.

A right-sided centre-back, Lucky can also play as a full-back and he is known for his composure on the ball. He averages 56 passes per 90 minutes and completes 92% of his passes as per Wyscout.

Defensively, he is quick to read danger and has the speed to catch up with his opponents averaging 10.6 recoveries per 90 minutes.

Given this PSV game has little at stake for the Reds, it will be interesting to see how Slot approaches the game. He could indeed rotate heavily and that could give a golden opportunity to someone like Lucky to make his Liverpool bow.
