"Solid player" - Trent Alexander-Arnold praises Liverpool man

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has praised teammate Andy Robertson.

The left-back is having a very good season. Robertson has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.15 across the 2021-22 campaign.

The 28-year-old has also scored two goals and registered 15 assists in 40 appearances this season.

But, we have not been surprised to see Robertson perform to a high standard this campaign. He has been playing well for several years now, which is why he has been a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp's side (217 appearances).

With that being the case, Alexander-Arnold has waxed lyrical about Robertson's consistency.

The Scouser told the club's official website the following: “For me, the biggest thing about Robbo is his consistency. That’s the hardest thing in football. You can have a good game and a lot of players will have a good game or 10 good games or a good season but it’s very hard to continue that over many seasons and to continuously guarantee you’re going to be a solid player for every single game.

“Off the top of my head I can’t really remember ever coming off the pitch and thinking, ‘Robbo’s had a bad game there.’

“He offers so much for us. There’s the consistency across the board and then also the fact that so far he’s not had many injuries where he’s missed many games, which is also a quality in itself – to always be fit for every game and be ready to be picked.

“For the last few years he has been outstanding. For me, he will go down as one of the best left-backs that this league has ever seen.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We are lucky to possess a left-back as good as Robertson. The Scotland international brings so much energy to a game of football.

We completely agree with Alexander-Arnold's take regarding Robertson's consistency. Very rarely have we sat back and thought that the defender has had a bad game in his five years at the club.

Robertson has stated that he would like to retire at Liverpool. Hopefully that turns out to be the case.

If Robertson finishes his career at Anfield, it means that he had performed to a high level for several more years.
