"So far"- Fabrizio Romano provides transfer update on Roberto Firmino
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided a transfer update on Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Juventus in recent times. However, Romano has confirmed that the Serie A side have not made a move for Firmino.
The reporter further added that the Reds are unlikely to move the 30-year-old on this summer. Firmino is out of contract at the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.
“So far Juventus have not approached Liverpool for Roberto Firmino,” Romano told Caught Offside.
“The situation is totally quiet – Jurgen Klopp considers him part of the project, especially because a lot of resources are needed in the World Cup season.
“Still, in my opinion, it’s not looking like he’ll be a regular for Liverpool this season, which is a shame because he’s a great talent.
“I’m sure he can still contribute a lot to Klopp’s team, but if he found a club where he could be a key player he would really get his magic back.
“Leaving Liverpool will be difficult, though. They have sold players already this summer, with Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi leaving. I doubt there is much desire to sell more.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Firmino has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp's plans over the years. The forward has scored 98 goals and registered 74 assists in 327 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
Firmino was also decent for the Reds last season. The 30-year-old averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.85 across the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.
Therefore, we strongly believe that Firmino still has plenty to offer. Liverpool would be wise to keep him around for at least another season.
Going by Romano's report, the club will do exactly that.
