Serie A club could reportedly look to sign Liverpool free agent
Liverpool striker Divock Origi could sign for Napoli come the summer, according to journalist Paolo Esposito, as cited by ThinkLFCTV's Twitter account.
The Belgium international's contract expires at the end of the season. With that being the case, Napoli could reportedly attempt to sign Origi on a free transfer in the coming months.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Liverpool signed Origi from Lille for a transfer fee of €12.63 million back in the summer of 2014.
Since then, the forward has gone on to score 40 goals and register 17 assists in 171 appearances for the club's first-team.
Origi has found the back of the net in some really big games for Liverpool. The 26-year-old scored in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona (2019) and the Champions League final (2019).
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is certainly a big fan of Origi.
As quoted by Sports Max, the German told Sky Sports the following: "Divock Origi, the legend. He's an incredible striker. For different reasons he did not play that often, but I hope one day he finds a manager that plays him more than I do.
"He's one of the best finishers I've ever seen in my life. In this great team, with our [front] three, he doesn't play all the time, but he is a very positive boy, loves the club, wants to contribute, and he did in an incredible way."
It would be sad to see Origi depart the club at the end of the season. The aforementioned figures/comments highlight that he is a good player.
But, the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino are ahead of Origi in the pecking order.
Therefore, the 26-year-old would certainly get more opportunities elsewhere. Only time will tell where Origi's future lies.
