Saudi Pro League hope rule change can land them TWO Liverpool players

The Saudi Pro League has a rule change ahead of next season - and it might help them land two Liverpool players.

The Guardian reports that Saudi Pro League sides have eyes on two Liverpool players. They could well make moves for them this summer.

The SPL made waves in 2023, with only the Premier League outspending them across world football. They're now set to make more moves - even if they don't quite match the wild spending of last year.

Two Liverpool players are now on their list. Alisson Becker is one, though it isn't clear exactly how realistic that is, nor why they've decided it could be possible.

The Reds have essentially zero reason to sell, after all.

Mohamed Salah is a more nuanced one. He's long been the target signing for the SPL and could be again this summer. He'll enter the final year of his contract, too, meaning Liverpool will be tempted to sell if the price is right.

There were attempts to sign Salah last year, of course, but the Reds rejected a record transfer offer. It will be a lot more difficult for them to do the same this time around, especially if the Egyptian wants the move.

Saudi rule change

There will be a rule change this summer that does make it easier for Saudi clubs to buy foreign players. They're now allowed to have 10 in their squad, up on the previous eight.

The catch is that two of those 10 must be under the age of 21. It will add a little bit more flexibility for signings, though, as clubs attempt to build teams of foreign players.

Ultimately, though, this will all come down to Liverpool. The money is there in Saudi Arabia - there's no question of that - but the Reds need to want the money in order to let two all-time greats go.

A massive decision ahead - a couple of them, even.
