Sam Curtis is now expected to move in the January transfer window, according to reports. Liverpool are keen to sign the teenager.

This comes from 90min. They report that Liverpool are one of several Premier League clubs eyeing Sam Curtis right now.

The Irish right-back currently plays for St. Patrick's Athletic and has done since 2021. That's particularly notable as Curtis is still only 17, having made his debut as a 15-year-old.

This season has seen him rapidly develop into one of the best young players in Ireland, however. He's nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, having played regularly for the team finishing third. Curtis also started at the Saints won the FAI Cup earlier this month.

His growing reputation reportedly brings expectations of a move in January. Curtis will likely depart, with Liverpool simply one of several clubs hoping to snap him up.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur round out the Premier League interest. Celtic would like to sign Curtis, too, as would Championship clubs Leeds United, Hully City and Middlesbrough.

It's a fairly fierce race, then, and it appears Curtis will have his pick of clubs in January. Liverpool will simply hope they can offer a better package than the rest.

The Reds made a similar move in recent years, of course, when bringing in Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen. The right-back was one of the brightest prospects in Scotland as a teenager and arrived at Anfield with excited expectation.

However, he's battled injury ever since and failed to make any sort of first-team impact. Given the interest in Curtis, it's hard to believe that Liverpool could sign him with anything short of a first-team place, moving him ahead of Ramsay in the pecking order.

This could be an interesting one to watch, then. Curtis will be the subject of offers in January - that much is clear. Let's see if Liverpool can front the queue.
