Mo Salah impresses in preseason
Liverpool are putting their players through preseason fitness tests and Mohamed Salah has been called ‘phenomenal’ for his efforts.
Liverpool have their new coaching staff in place and preseason is firmly underway. Of course, the squad remains light after the two international tournaments this summer but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of stars working with Arne Slot and co.
The coaches are currently putting players through their paces - fitness tests, in other words - as they learn exactly what this squad can do. One player, in particular, has now been labelled ‘phenomenal’ for his efforts.

Liverpool hire Heitinga
Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of John Heitinga as assistant coach, becoming the latest addition to Arne Slot’s new-look backroom team.
Slot, 45, brought Sipke Hulshoff and Ruben Peeters with him from Feyenoord with new goalkeeping coach Fabian Otte arriving from the United States men’s national team after their exit from the Copa America.
The Dutchman had also been hoping to bring in the Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Marino Pusic - who worked with him in Rotterdam - but he opted to stay put with the Ukrainian champions.

Slot's preseason challenge
Arne Slot is currently coaching a Liverpool squad that misses 11 first-team players. Here’s everyone absent right now.
The Arne Slot era is underway at Liverpool and he's currently working with his first squad with the Reds. They'll get work done in Kirkby before flying out to the US imminently.
Liverpool take on Real Betis in Pittsburgh on the 26th (though, technically the 27th in the UK), before friendlies against Arsenal and Manchester United. They'll fly back to face Sevilla at Anfield on August 11th and then the proper football starts.

Thiago rejoins Barcelona
Thiago Alcantara left Liverpool this summer and has now had his next destination confirmed. But it’s only temporary.
Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday that Thiago will return to the club as a coach. It’s something that had been heavily rumoured in recent weeks.
Thiago announced his retirement last month - a shock to many. He barely featured in his final year at Liverpool but few expected him to outright call it a day.
