Slot gets Salah wish
Arne Slot looks virtually certain to get positive news soon with Mo Salah looking very likely to be at Liverpool for the season kick-off.
The Liverpool Echo reports that Mohamed Salah is looking increasingly unlikely to be with Egypt for the Olympics later this year. The forward is certainly wanted by his country for the tournament but they require permission to call him up.
And it appears they won't get it. The Echo refers to a source with the Egyptian camp that says it's now '90% sure' that Salah won't be at the Olympics.

Alisson's brilliant save
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker had social media talking after producing a brilliant moment for Brazil against Paraguay at Copa America 2024.
Alisson Becker has, somewhat bizarrely, come into criticism as a goalkeeper for Brazil. He's still their undisputed no.1 but there's a sense that he's just not good enough.
For his country, anyway. Liverpool fans will obviously find that kind of talk a little surreal - Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper on the planet and one of the absolute best to ever play for the Reds.

Anthony Gordon talks
Liverpool are in talks with Newcastle United over Anthony Gordon - but a sticking point has seen the Reds back down.
The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool were in talks with Newcastle United this week over a move for Anthony Gordon. The England star is a boyhood Red and has openly talked about it.
And Gordon is aware of the talks. While he's not pressuring Newcastle into a sale, the feeling is that he'd be very open to moving to Anfield, despite his Everton past.

Owen issues Liverpool warning
Michael Owen has urged Liverpool to keep Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk at the club for as long as possible, warning that the Reds are merely a ‘decent’ team without the duo.
The high-profile pair, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, are out of contract at the end of next season with no progress so far on a potential new deal for either.

Yorke wants Trent at Old Trafford
Manchester United treble winner Dwight Yorke has called on his former side to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold, 25, is out of contract at the end of next season and so far no breakthrough has been made over a new deal.
It promises to be a transitional season for Alexander-Arnold and for Liverpool with new coach Arne Slot coming in and Jurgen Klopp leaving.
