Sadio Mane's agent provides an update on the future of his client

Bjorn Bezemer, the agent of Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, says that there are currently no ongoing contract talks between the club and his client.

The Senegal international has been a top player for the Reds since joining the club back in July 2016. Mane has found the back of the net 111 times and registered 45 assists in 254 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The 29-year-old has also had a decent 2021-22 campaign thus far. Mane has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.23 across the season, which highlights that he is far from finished at the top level.

The winger's contract expires at the conclusion of next season. However, he is not discussing a new contract with the club at this current moment, according to his agent.

Therefore, Liverpool could potentially be on the verge of losing a player that is still performing to a high standard.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter and the Liverpool Echo, Bezemer said the following: “We talk a lot with Liverpool but currently we are not talking about a contract extension, we are waiting for the end of the season.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We would love to see Mane remain at Liverpool for a few more years. As we have already pointed out, the winger has been performing reasonably well this season and he is still at a good age.

Then again, perhaps Mane wants to try something new. It has been reported that the Senegal international is considering his future. The reality is, none of us know what is happening behind the scenes.

Hopefully Mane remains a Red for at least a few more years. But, if he was to depart the club in the near future, we would wish him all the best. Once a Red, always a Red.

Only time will tell where Mane's long-term future lies.
