Jurgen Klopp still keen on Bayern Munich midfielder
Ryan Gravenberch is still a possible target for Liverpool this summer, with Jurgen Klopp particularly keen on the midfielder, according to one report.
The 21-year-old Bayern Munich star was among the list of midfield transfer options for Liverpool earlier this summer, but links have cooled in recent weeks with the focus of much of the reporting turning to Romeo Lavia and Andre Trindade.
However, Sport Bild claim that Klopp is still fond of Bayern's Dutch midfielder, who endured an underwhelming maiden campaign in the Bundesliga.
The German outlet reports through their Bayern Insider podcast that Klopp is keen on Gravenberch and believes he could help the former Ajax player live up to his potential at Anfield.
It is said that Bayern's inclination to sell is still unclear, but Gravenberch's lack of regular game time could open the door to an exit.
Liverpool's need for midfield reinforcement is clear. Despite the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, the Reds are still short on bodies in the middle of the park, having lost Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo so far this summer.
Heading into the Premier League opener with Chelsea on 13 August, Liverpool do not have a fit, specialist defensive midfielder at all.
Anfield Watch reported on Friday that the Reds are looking at a move for Leicester City's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The club are also exploring a move for €30m-rated Andre – though he is seen as a possible replacement for Thiago.Meanwhile, a third (and final) bid for Lavia is expected in the coming days.
