Ryan Gravenberch stat separates him from any other Premier League player

Ryan Gravenberch was the only player in the Premier league on the opening weekend of the new season to play multiple accurate through balls (2).

Gravenberch was a stand out in Liverpool's curtain raiser against Ipswich Town on Saturday with a dominant display in the heart of midfield.

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch was quick to heap the praise on the Dutchman after the game saying a performance like that will instil huge amounts of confidence in him.

"I think today will fill him with confidence, I think he is so good when he's driving at defences, some of his passes today were beautiful," Crouch said.

Gravenberch impressed with and without the ball but it was his ability to play multiple through balls into the forward men that seperated him from any other player in the league.

Ever since Fabinho's departure, Liverpool have yet been able to land a replacement that they perceive as their main target.

Last season Liverpool missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia who both opted to join Chelsea and have yet been able to really impress since their arrivals.

The trend continued into this summer with Arne Slot's main target Martin Zubimendi informing the Reds his wish to stay with his boyhood club Real Sociedad.

It's looking increasingly more likely Liverpool won't settle for anyone in that position after failing to land the Spaniard, but after Saturday's outing, Ryan Gravenberch looks like he could be more than capable to be an ever-present in the double pivot alongside Alexis Mac Allister.

Speaking on LFCTV, Neil Mellor also praised the midfielder's performance at Portman Road.

"Gravenberch was magnificent, he earned the right to start and he delivered.

"He had 71 touches in the game and 59 passes. We know he can dribble with the ball, but he was always an option for his teammates, I thought he was magnificent," Mellor said.
