Ryan Gravenberch throws cheeky dig at Bayern Munich's false promises

Ryan Gravenberch is grateful for increased opportunities on the pitch after Liverpool offered him a way out of a nightmare spell at Bayern Munich.

Gravenberch has starred since his deadline day move to Merseyside, dazzling fans with his flowing style of play and ability to drive the team forward.

He most recently got on the scoresheet in Liverpool's 5-1 thrashing of Toulouse in the Europa League, slotting home with aplomb after Darwin Nunez saw his effort ricochet back off the post.

Delighted with his start to his career at Anfield, Gravenberch has opened up on what drew him to the Liverpool project in the first place.

"When Klopp called, he gave me his plan and then things went quite quickly," he told Viaplay Sport Nederland.

"That was really the most important thing I wanted."

Clarity over his position in the squad was clearly a must if Gravenberch was to make a move away from Bayern, just one year after joining the German giants from boyhood club Ajax.

This was unsurprising given how little he featured under Thomas Tuchel during his season at the Allianz Arena - recording just five starts in 30 appearances.

Happy with the minutes he's getting under Klopp, the 21-year-old is pleased that - unlike some - the Reds boss has stuck to his word in regard to his squad role.

Asked whether Klopp 'keeps his promises', relating to playing time, better than those at Bayern Munich, Gravenberch laughed: "Actually, yes!"

And from what we've seen so far, it's safe to say the reigning Bundesliga champions really missed a trick with the Dutch dynamo.
