While in their last training camp before the end of the international break, Ryan Gravenberch slyly suggested that Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber join him at Liverpool

Speaking with Dutch media NOS, an interviewer asked Timber if he would stay at Feyenoord for the rest of his career and while passing by, Gravenberch suggested a move to Liverpool would suit him best.

Having played in the Dutch Eredivisie league for his entire career to date, Timber previously worked under the coaching of Arne Slot at Feyenoord and the Liverpool boss is reportedly a big admirer of the player.

Earlier this year at the beginning of the transfer window, the Dutch international had been rumoured of a move to Anfield, but nothing subsequently came of the reports.

However, with Gravenberch now working on some inside business to sway the player, the two could link up in midfield for both club and country in the near future.

At just 23 years old, Timber would fit perfectly in line with the age profile of Liverpool’s recent transfer acquisitions.

A new addition to Liverpool’s Dutch contingent?

Feeling comfortable to play in any midfield position, Timber would be a flexible asset for Arne Slot’s fluid team and as the pair have worked together before, it may be a match made in heaven.

In a standout season last year for Feyenoord, he notched 16 goal contributions and was an integral part of the club’s Champions League qualification after missing out on the title to PSV despite only losing one game in the Eredivisie.

While Liverpool would be interested in further recruitment in the midfield department, after missing out on Martin Zubimendi this summer and with Wataru Endo out of favour with Slot, it may be the club’s current Dutch contingent that could sway the move.

Beginning with Virgil van Dijk in 2018, the Reds have successfully signed three Dutch players in recent times - Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch - and all have become important assets to the team.

Now under the leadership of Dutch boss Arne Slot, we may be seeing another new addition from the Netherlands on their way to Anfield.
