Ryan Gravenberch's time in exile from the Netherlands national team setup is over, his brother has insisted.

The 21-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a strong start to life at Liverpool, following his £34m deadline day transfer from Bayern Munich, scoring twice and registering two assists to date.

However, he is yet represent his country since his move to Merseyside, after turning down a call-up to the Under-21 squad back in September.

Gravenberch chose to focus on settling in at his new club rather than link up with the Jong Oranje for Euro Under-21 qualifiers against Moldova and North Macedonia – a decision which upset the Netherlands coaching setup.

Senior side coach Ronald Koeman admitted he was 'not happy' about Gravenberch's rejection, while Under-21 boss Michael Reiziger said: "For a national team, for your country, you have to play with your heart. Not with your head. So you really have to want to be there. That is just important to me. He has made his decision to stay in Liverpool to acclimatise. I know Ryan, he is a good and likeable boy, but he made the wrong choice."

Gravenberch – who has 11 caps for the senior Netherlands side – has not been called up in any squad since, amid reports that he was being punished for his actions.

However, it seems that a minor knee injury picked up before the win over Brentford is the only reason the Liverpool star is not a part of either Dutch squad for the November internationals.

Earlier this month Reiziger confirmed the situation is "already behind us," while Gravenberch's older brother Danzell has also now insisted the issue has been 'resolved'.

The 29-year-old forward told SoccerNews.nl: "There were some disagreements, but that has now been resolved.

"Ryan is not there yet, but if he just continues as he is doing, it will happen naturally. He just has to do his thing and hope he gets back into the picture. Just enjoy playing football, the same as me actually."

On his brother's start to life at Anfield, Danzell added: "He’s doing nicely and starting to get his rhythm. Now he has to get on with it and everything will be fine. I watch all his matches on television."
