Roberto Firmino could now enter Premier League relegation battle

Roberto Firmino has been linked with a transfer that could see him enter the Premier League relegation battle. The Brazilian has struggled since leaving Liverpool.

TalkSPORT report that Roberto Firmino could leave Al-Ahli just months after joining the Saudi Pro League side. Firmino went there as part of the great migration to the league this summer.

The Brazilian's contract with Liverpool expired, of course, and despite interest from European teams, he jumped to the Middle East. Things started wonderfully, too - Firmino bagged a hattrick on his debut.

However, he hasn't scored since and Al-Ahli aren't happy with him. Limits on foreign players mean they're now looking to move him on to free up space for someone new.

And TalkSPORT mention one club in their report as having interest. Or at least, having once held interest.

Sheffield United have sounded out a move for Firmino. That was before Chris Wilder took over as boss again, though, and it's unclear whether they retain that interest.

At the end of the day, it's hard to imagine the Blades would turn down a move for Firmino if he's interested - no matter who the boss is. He was great last season in a struggling Liverpool side and is absolutely good enough to contribute to a relegation battle.

In fact, it's hard to believe that's his level. He scored 11 goals in the Premier League last season, as well as four assists. Those numbers came to a pretty sensational 1.11 goals & assists per 90 minutes.

Literally the only player who topped that last season was Erling Haaland. To go from that to struggling at Al-Ahli and possibly being wanted by Sheffield United feels completely insane.

So it'll be interesting to see what happens. Firmino was a brilliant player at the start of the year - that player won't have disappeared.
