Robbie Fowler suggests Liverpool should sign Tottenham Hotspur forward

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has suggested that the Reds should make a move for Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

It was well-documented last summer that the Englishman wanted to leave North London and join Manchester City.

However, a deal between the relevant parties could not be reached. With that being the case, Fowler has implied that Liverpool should make a move for Kane in the summer.

The 46-year-old is confident that the striker would add a fair bit of quality to the club's forward line.

Fowler wrote the following in The Daily Mirror: “(Manchester) United will be in, for sure, and this is a bit left-field, but I’ve said before that Liverpool could do worse than go for him, because he’s got that ability to drop deep like Firmino, and he can guarantee goals."

Kane is out of contract in June 2024. Transfermarkt value him at €100 million. It is important to note that Liverpool have not genuinely been linked with a summer move for Kane.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Kane is a world-class player. The striker has scored 243 goals and registered 56 assists in 378 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur.

As Fowler has pointed out, Kane also drops deep into midfield to help his teammates out. Kane would certainly be a fine addition to Jurgen Klopp's squad.

But, we would be surprised if Liverpool were to make a move for Kane this summer. The Reds possess a number of attackers (Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota).

As things stand, Liverpool don't need to be signing a forward anytime soon.

Also, Fenway Sports Group, the club's owners, are not big spenders.

FSG have never spent more than €75 million on a footballer (Virgil van Dijk, January 2018). Even if Liverpool were genuinely interested in Kane, they might not be able to afford him.
