Robbie Fowler compares Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah to Cristiano Ronaldo

Robbie Fowler has praised Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah's work ethic and likened the Egpytian maestro to Cristiano Ronaldo after the Reds' 7-0 demolition of Manchester United. 

Salah became Liverpool's leading goalscorer in Premier League history with a brace against the Red Devils, surpassing Fowler's tally of 128 goals for the club. Speaking to the Athletic, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Fowler lavished praise on the 30-year-old's ability to stay injury free, describing his body as his 'temple.'

“To go through your career without a serious injury, of course, you need a bit of luck. But his appearance record also says a lot about how Mo looks after himself.

"Cristiano Ronaldo gets a lot of plaudits on that front and Mo deserves the same. His body is a temple. He’s completely devoted to his profession.

"He’s the perfect example for the young players coming through in terms of how to lead your life. I’m sure he’s played a lot with aches and pains, but he just hates missing games.”

Fowler also tipped Salah for further success at Liverpool as the Egyptian prepares to create more history after becoming the club's leading scorer in the Premier League.

"He’s only 30 and he should still have many years left at the top level. It’s exciting to think about what he could still achieve. There are more chapters to be written.

“But he won’t be looking too far ahead. More than anything Mo will want to fire Liverpool back into the Champions League. That’s where this club needs to be and thrashing United won’t count for anything if they don’t kick on from here. He’ll know that.

“My message to him is, ‘Congratulations, you deserve all the praise that’s come your way because you’ve been sensational for this club. Keep scoring goals for us, keep breaking records.’”

Salah is undoubtedly one of the greatest players in Liverpool history and cemented his status as an all-time great with his record-breaking brace against Manchester United. As Robbie Fowler pointed out, he's only 30 and has a lot of time to make further history for Liverpool.

At the moment, though, Salah's full focus will be to spearhead Liverpool to a top-four finish. The Reds have turned a corner in recent weeks and will look to continue their rich vein of form into the business end of the season.
