Rio Ferdinand has already given 'HUGE' Federico Chiesa verdict ahead of Liverpool move

The Manchester United legend has waxed lyrical about Liverpool's soon to be new signing. 

Federico Chiesa is now edging closer to a move to Liverpool in what has been an unprecedented move.

The Italian international has always been on the club's radar, ever since catching the eye at Fiorentina. However, he wasn't initially a priority for Liverpool until the Reds became aware of his availability.

For a bargain price of just £10.9m, it's a deal Liverpool could simply not refuse, and it's one that could be the envy of many of Europe's top club.

Especially based on what Rio Ferdinand has said about the 26-year-old in the past.

Rio Ferdinand's thoughts on 'huge' Federico Chiesa

The former Manchester United legend was speaking about Chiesa on BT Sport as per the Metro back in 2021 and did not hold back his praise for the winger.

"He’s a huge player, and he’s been linked with a few clubs in England. I’m sure they’re thinking, ‘why didn’t we get him?’" Ferdinand said.

"He’s just a fantastic footballer. The intensity with which he plays with, we saw in the Euros, he was the main goal threat for the Italians who went on to win the tournament.

"It’s his pace, his drive. He’s the one who is the threat, he’s potent, he wants to run in behind. He’s that modern day striker who can play anywhere across the front line and he’s as comfortable out wide as he is through the middle. He unnerves defenders with that pace, he’s so direct."

Ferdinand's words are only going to get Liverpool supporters more excited about the prospect of Chiesa joining the club.

Based on what the pundit has said, Chiesa will thrive under Arne Slot with Liverpool needing his directness and ability to play anywhere across the front three.

For the price that Liverpool will pay to Juventus, it's clear the Reds are on verge of wrapping up an absolute bargain deal.
