Richard Hughes ready to complete mega €170m Liverpool transfer
Liverpool are reportedly ready to make an enormous offer to sign a player who has been on Richard Hughes' radar for a long time.
At this stage of the season it's really difficult to predict what will happen at Anfield come the summer transfer window. But even with so much still up in the air, it's not difficult to surmise that there might just be gargantuan changes being made.
Liverpool transfer news today: Richard Hughes gets 'go ahead' to pull off 'well advanced' €60m deal
Arne Slot has now had a year with this Liverpool squad. He's given everyone a chance after Liverpool did little activity last summer.
But now, this summer will be an opportunity for Hughes to imprint his own ideas into the squad in tandem with Slot's philosophy.
There will be players leaving for pastures new and there will be players coming in. After a few quiet windows, this is going to be a busy one for Liverpool.
And it could even see the Reds breaking their club record.

Why Richard Hughes is ready to break club record for Julian Alvarez
Liverpool's current club record transfer is Virgil van Dijk who the club signed for £75m from Southampton. That was over seven years ago now and Liverpool have spent big on a player since but not quite the same figure.
Not that the Reds did not attempt to. Liverpool infamously tried to sign Moises Caicedo for £112m. That deal didn't work out but the club's latest attempts might just prevail.
Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that Julian Alvarez is a target for Liverpool this summer, having tried to sign him from Manchester City last summer.
Now Fichajes in Spain is claiming that not only do Liverpool want to sign Alvarez but that they are ready to make an offer worth €170m.
This is around £142m, which is basically almost twice as much as Liverpool's previous transfer record and it would be quite unprecedented of the Reds to make such an offer.
Alvarez is highly valued by the club's scouts but at that price Liverpool might be better turning their attention elsewhere.
Fichajes is always worth taking with a pinch of salt.
According to Anfield Watch's understanding, it would take a significantly lesser offer for Liverpool to land Alvarez, who is of course not the only no.9 target for the Reds.

But he is someone Liverpool like a lot and therefore his situation is worth keeping an eye on. It it still entirely plausible that the Reds will break their transfer record fee to sign the Argentinian.
