Richard Hughes has been given a green light to sign a right-back who has been on the club's radar for a while.

Liverpool are bracing themselves for a frantic summer transfer window ahead. As Anfield Watch exclusively revealed the Reds have put Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz all up for sale.

This is at the same time as Liverpool's trio of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold all face uncertain futures with just months left on the end of their current contracts.

If Richard Hughes does not come to an agreement with them, the trio will be free to leave for pastures new and there will be nothing the Reds can do about it.

Out of the three of them the most likely to leave is probably Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has Real Madrid desperately trying to sign him.

And it seems like Liverpool are making moves to find a replacement for him.

Richard Hughes gets green light for Wesley transfer

One of the players on Liverpool's radar is the Brazilian right-back Wesley. Liverpool have recently been linked with a £30m move for his services.

Wesley is a really talented full-back, who plies his trade at Flamengo and could be an ideal fit for the Reds.

On top of his tremendous qualities, he fits the age profile being only 21 years old and he is also from a region in South America where the Reds have always wanted to invest and bring in players from.

Michael Edwards has especially been keen on making that happened having tried to bring the likes of Rodrygo to Anfield during his stint as sporting director at Liverpool.

The only question mark that probably surrounds South American players is whether they are ready to make the step-up to the Premier League.

Over the last few years, that's definitely been proven as an unfounded theory given how the likes of Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton have all benefitted from bringing in South American stars.

Moises Caicedo is probably the best example but Julian Alvarez also immediately hit the ground running after arriving at Manchester City from River Plate.

Nonetheless, the question mark remains and it should have just been answered with the Brazil national team giving Hughes a massive green light to pursue a deal.

That's because Wesley has earned his first senior national team call-up to the Brazil squad and he will be coming up against Luis Diaz's Colombia and Argentina in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

That Diaz test could give Hughes and even bigger green light if Wesley is given the nod. But the fact that Wesley is in the Brazil squad in the first place should be enough to prove just how highly rated he is.

The Brazil team, even now, is considered as one of the best in the world so Wesley's call up is a massive statement of his quality.
