Revealed: Where Liverpool rank in terms of injuries in the Premier League this season

Injuries haven't been kind to Liverpool in recent weeks. 

The Reds have been struck down by a string of short and long-term fitness issues, with the likes of Alisson, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold all currently in the treatment room.

Injuries are a theme that have ran through pretty much every season under Jurgen Klopp and they have threatened to derail Liverpool's quadruple bid this year.

While the youngsters have performed remarkably well in the place of senior Liverpool stars, Klopp is desperate to welcome back some of his influential absentees.

But just how bad have Liverpool's injuries been this season and how do their fitness woes compare to the rest of the Premier League?

THE STATS BEHIND LIVERPOOL'S INJURY-HIT SEASON

It's certainly true that Liverpool have been adversely affected by injuries this season and significantly more than some of their competitors - especially since the beginning of 2024.

Ten players are currently sidelined for the Reds, with Liverpool having suffered 27 different injuries this season according to recent data collected by BBC Sport.

Only three more clubs - Newcastle United, Manchester United and Brighton - have endured more individual injuries than the Reds, although foru clubs have had the exact same number.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United rank lowest for number of injuries with just 13 this term, while title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City have endured 19 each.

However, Liverpool haven't suffered too badly in terms of days missed through injury, certainly in comparison to some other teams in the division.

Liverpool players had missed 865 days through injury at the time that the data was recorded, with eight sides having a higher figure than this.

Newcastle United have been by far the worst sufferers when it comes to ailments this season, with a league-high 29 injuries and 1,333 days lost to fitness issues.

The likes of Man Utd (979), Chelsea (1,091) and Tottenham (949) have all suffered more with injuries than the Reds, although Liverpool's absences have all rather inconveniently arrived at once.

Arsenal and Man City have got off pretty lightly with injuries this term, with 761 and 565 days lost respectively, although the latter have missed the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland at points this season.

Liverpool's tally is likely to increase significantly in the coming weeks, however, with Alisson, Jota, Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones all out until in and around the international break, while Thiago and Joel Matip could miss the rest of the season.

The Reds' injury concerns may not have been as bad as previous seasons, but Klopp has had a plethora of key players injured in a short period of time since the turn of the year.
