"Responsibility falls on him now" - Former Colombian star on Luis Diaz
Former Colombian international Faustino Asprilla has said that Liverpool's Luis Diaz is responsible for the Colombian national team.
Diaz is one of Colombia's hottest prospects at the moment and the 25-year-old has already played 34 times for his national team, scoring eight goals in the process.
Speaking about Diaz, former Newcastle United player and Colombian international Faustino Asprilla said that now the winger has joined Liverpool, the responsibility of Colombian football is on his shoulders, as cited by LFC Transfer Room.
"Luis Diaz has to be the number one player responsible for what happens from now on in the Colombian national team. All the responsibility falls on him now.
"He has to realise that he is in one of the biggest teams in Europe and the Luis Diaz we see in England is the one we want to see in the national team. We must give him the tools to be able to develop as he does at Liverpool.
"I think Luis Diaz can become the most important player in the national team in the next ten years."
Anfield Watch Verdict
This is an unnecessary amout of pressure to put on a 25-year-old who has just got his first move.
The Colombian media and ex-players did the same with James Rodriguez when he joined Real Madrid and his career hasn't gone exactly how he would've hoped.
Hopefully, Diaz can just ignore these quotes and get on with his football at Liverpool. The best person to be around when comments like this come out is Jurgen Klopp.
Thankfully Klopp has dealt with this type of situation before so he will have a wealth of experience and should be able to offer Diaz the right advice.
