A report from the Telegraph has revealed Daniel Levy at Tottenham was frustrated to hear that Liverpool had hijacked his club's move for Luis Diaz, with him threatening to report our recruitment team to John W Henry and Mike Gordon, a little weirdly.

Spurs had looked to move fast to bring in Diaz towards the end of last week but Liverpool then decided to act and make a move for a player that had also been on their radar.

Indeed, the Reds appear to have won the battle and that annoyed Levy - not that it appeared to bother the Reds:

Anfield Watch Verdict

Levy is about as hardnosed as it gets in the negotiation room so it's poetic justice he's been gazumped by the Reds here.

What reporting the recruitment team to the owners would have done is pretty up for debate as well - they surely want their department to be pulling off such deals.

Diaz is on the way to Liverpool and that is something we can all be happy about.
