Forward Roberto Firmino injured his hamstring against Atletico Madrid at Anfield last week.

The 30-year-old was forced off the pitch 33 minutes into the aforementioned Champions League group stage clash.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Firmino has picked up a serious hamstring injury.

According to The Times, as cited by Watch LFC's Twitter account, the Brazil international could miss up to six weeks of action.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It is a shame that Firmino has suffered a serious injury. The forward has been in good form for Liverpool so far season.

Firmino has scored six goals and registered one assist in 11 appearances. The Brazil international has also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.98 in the early stages of the 2021-22 campaign.

But, the Reds will have to do without Firmino for the time being. The good news is that Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino are all fit.

Therefore, Liverpool should be able to cover Firmino's absence.
