Newcastle reportedly join Liverpool in Luis Diaz race

Liverpool are said to have been joined by Newcastle United in the race to sign Luis Diaz, with the player dubbed the 'Colombian Cristiano Ronaldo.'

Of course, such labels quite often get touted when a new bright talent emerges on the scene and, quite often, they fall short of such lofty predictions.

Diaz, though, has got talent in his own right and we could well be seeing him on these shores in the near future if reports are to be believed.

Indeed, according to The Guardian, Newcastle United have now joined the race for the young South American with Liverpool also mentioned as a side potentially keen on bringing him to England.

The Magpies are being watched keenly this month as it is their first chance to start spending the mega-riches they received earlier on in the season after a Saudi-led takeover of the club.

Indeed, it's not just Diaz that they are being linked with but this is the only story involving them that also involves Liverpool, and so we'll wait and see who, if either, wins the battle to get him.

Anfield Watch Verdict

He's an exciting young footballer with lots of potential so you can see in that sense why Liverpool might well be interested in bringing him in and trying to develop him for the future.

At the moment, though, it appears purely speculation and there will surely be a number of clubs linked, as is soon often the case with young players from South America.

An exciting proposition, though, so let's see what exactly unfolds.
