It has been reported that Newcastle United would like to sign Liverpool forward Divock Origi on a six-month loan deal come January.

The Belgium international has hardly featured for the Reds this season. Origi has only made seven appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Despite that being the case, Liverpool have no intention of allowing the 26-year-old to depart the club in January, according to the Northern Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We are delighted to hear that Liverpool won't be looking to move Origi on come January. The reality is, the forward is a handy player.

Origi has scored 38 goals and registered 16 assists in 164 appearances for the Reds' first-team.

Liverpool wingers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are set to play in the Africa Cup of Nations. The aforementioned tournament takes place in the early parts of 2022. With that being the case, the Reds will need Origi.

On another note, the 26-year-old's contract expires at the conclusion of the current season. As thing stand, Origi will be able to depart the club on a free transfer next summer.

Only time will tell where the Belgium international's long-term future lies.
