"Regret it" - Pundit on Sadio Mane's reported move to Bayern

Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has given his opinion on the saga surrounding Liverpool winger Sadio Mane.

The Senegal international is reportedly set to join Bayern Munich this summer. However, Agbonlahor believes that Mane will regret leaving Anfield.

“I would keep Mane, to be honest,” he told Football Insider, as quoted by TEAMtalk.

“What he offers the club, what he offers the team, I would keep him.

“Liverpool might not want to break that wage structure. They won’t be held to ransom. It will be interesting to see.

“When a player wants out so much, it’s hard to stop them, it’s hard to keep them around.

“Maybe it’s best for both parties. Mane wants to try a different league, he wants the money he feels he deserves and Liverpool don’t want to pay it.

“There shouldn’t be any hard feelings but the way he has pushed it through, he’ll probably regret it because he had a great time there.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Mane is contracted until the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign. However, reports do suggest that the winger has his heart set on a move to Bayern Munich.

We can see where Agbonlahor is coming from. Mane is playing for one of the best teams in the world and he is adored by the fans.

But, if the Senegal international wants to leave the club, then so be it.

Liverpool would be silly to keep Mane for the 2022-23 campaign if that is the case. The reality is, he could leave Anfield on a free transfer next summer.

So, the Reds would be better off cashing in on Mane this summer. We expect his move to Bayern Munich to be processed reasonably quickly.
